It doesn't work for me John. I installed the UK version and it is running in a VM which probably doesn't help.
Keith, VM should not be a problem. It runs in my VM but I shut it off. Was pretty useless.

If you're not in the US, that could be a reason why. Cortana's not that fully developed out just yet.

Also, do make sure your mic is all set up and is at a good recoding volume for best effect.

I am in Canada but Cortana worked. That's because I select US region whenever I install W10. Not because of Cortana. Just a preference. I already shut Cortana up.

Had to post this. If you think Cortana can be a bit stubborn, here's how an error event from MS is worded! Build 10049.

Anyone having any luck using Cortana? I have been trying it out and so far I'm not impressed. I can't get "Hey Cortana" to work. I have to click the microphone before I can give voice commands. The only things I have been able to do is web searches and set up a reminder.

I'm on build 10049 and Cortana hasn't improved much. I still have problems getting Cortana to start by voice command. If it doesn't get any better by the time Win 10 goes final I'll definitely be turning it off.
