movie player with GOOD dialog settings (modern movies - Mix is poor)
Hi here
while VLC plays just about everything you can throw at it (and it's cheap --i.e FREE) I find when watching modern movies the audio mix is just appalling -- effects are humungously LOUD whilst the dialog is often at a very low level -- same problem I have in the Cinema which is why I rarely go any more unless I'm watching classic older films.
I've often fiddled around with the equalizer on VLC with limited success -- seems for movies - especially action films released after about 1995 I'm forced to use the subtitles to stop myself from going Deaf du to the huge variation in volume between the effects / music and dialog.
Any players that can possibly do a better than than VLC of correcting te Audio mix and enhancing Dialog while fading excessive sound / music effects. VLC though is pretty good usually.
Older films seem to work perfectly -- was watching a classic re-run of the old pre 1940 version of Hunchback of Notre Dame -- dialog was perfectly audible.
Have Sound Engineers just lost the plot these days -- I'd love an evening to the cinema but fear for my ears these days.
Cheers
