    Improve Windows Movie Maker!

I would like to make movies with a new Movie Maker version with:
    • Timeline - We want it back! and enable snapping.
    • Enable objects in the video, like the channel icon.
    • Direct uploading to YouTube.
    • Metro tiles, with a fresh new tile design.

Version 6.0.6001.18341 does all that and is not dependent of Win version, works for me on W7, 8.1 and 10TP.

Mine is in a folder by itself, no installation needed, it was downloaded from MS couple of years ago.

From where do you get this version number. I have a completely different number.

MM in Vista was a standalone version, far superior in my opinion.
For reasons unknown to me, MS dropped many features from the Windows Essentials version.

The standalone version does work (not sure about Win8, I did this quite a while ago), but I recall there is some trick to getting it to work. Unfortunately I don't recall the trick. It might be in the tutorial I linked, or I might have found it in a search. It is a relatively easy 'fix' once it is identified.

On the other hand, some brain cells don't react well to age
I could be completely wrong. Mike has it working, I defer to him if you decide to investigate for yourself.

I actually like the current Movie Maker. I use it quite a lot. And if I need a timeline, I use Camtasia. I never liked the old Vista version because the output quality was terrible.

Just a tip - if you want completely lossless editing, use Machete. It requires a bit of knowledge of Key frames and formats.
