Thanks for those Hosts File entries, Callender. Works a treat. CCleaner (free version here) opens instantly now although it didn't really bother me having to wait about 10 seconds for it to open.

Yep, I have CCleaner blocked with OneClickFirewall and have for the past couple of years.

I'm still wondering what it needs to connect to the Internet for when you open it - its only done it for the last 2 or 3 releases so it is something new they've put in. Can't help but be a bit suspicious given their behaviour since CCleaner was bought by Avast.

Anyone else experienced problems with 5.69.7865 ?

It worked okay for the first few runs then caused 100% disk usage and unresponsive system.

    Installed 5.68.7820 and no problems.
@Callender I also had similar problems with 5.69 and even a clean reinstall didn't work. Thank goodness a quick Google search found previous v5.68 although not the slim version.

Running the Pro 5.69.7865 version here, with no issues at all.

    Chris,

First link is a single post from July 5, 2020. May not apply to current new release.

Second and third links appear to be dups.

    Just FYI..............

If you've blocked it in your firewall:
You get a delay of around 5 seconds on launch while it checks for an internet connection.

If you add these to your Hosts file the delay vanishes:

    Code:
    0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com.edgesuite.net
    0.0.0.0 license.piriform.com
    0.0.0.0 ipm-provider.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 shepherd.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 ip-info.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 analytics.ff.avast.com
I got the above from another forum.

    I already had these:

    Code:
    0.0.0.0 uib.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 analytics.ns1.ff.avast.com
    Hello,

Will you have some similar for Wise Disk Cleaner to block in my Firewall?

    Thanks

As far as I can work out it connects to web6639432.lespeed.com

It should be enough to block the executable in your firewall.

It also resets my preferences at least once per day. See:

    CCleaner keeps reverting registry keys
