@pietcorus2, @OldMike65 -- There are all sorts of issues reported on Piriform CCleaner Bug Forum regarding v5.55 Software Updater Tool as well as CCleaner Pro users having problems updating. Posts are all over the place so the best advice is to check it out and see if anything applies to an individual situation.

Also, it's being reported that the error code 26 with the free version has been fixed. It was a server issue. I do not know if the Software Updater will vanish from the free version in 14 days or if those users will just continue to get a pop-up saying "to use this tool you must upgrade to pro version".
Thanks for the info, but I am not having any problems with mine. If I was I would be logged into the CCleaner forum. I am a member on there too.

I'm a member there as well, but with the free version. Interesting and disappointing the way Avast has been taking CCleaner. There seem to be more and more problems with each new build.

Yeah, I saw your post over there. . .

Supposedly you can use the tool for 14 days, as a free trial. . .

I don't use or want that feature, read my last 4 or 5 posts. That feature was not needed in my opinion in CCleaner.

So it seems CC is becoming bloated like AVAST AV (and pretty buggy too). It's sad to see a previously good program going down the hill.

PS - I wonder what will happen to Defraggler. It seems discontinued at best.

Bloated with junk not really needed; borked builds; ever-increasing annoying advertising. Some people complain user settings are not being respected with regards to turning off monitoring and data mining. Defraggler and Speccy versions have been stagnant since May 2018 and Recuva since June 2016.

Perhaps Avast is going to eliminate Piriform products, keeping what it wants, and putting those under its own name.

Ccleaner Pro V55.7108: Update New Feature

This is the first time here that Ccleaner Pro asks for an update. Usually this type of app does not require a restart. The new exe. file overrides the existing one with no restart. The upgrade file is the same as the Notepad++ website.
