I bought ccleaner Pro a long time ago so I don't get any of that nor them trying to include Avast.

There was an interesting opportunity at the bottom of the release announcement email I got...

    Attachment 215696

I participated in the survey (about 10 questions, and a couple of places to enter free-form comments and suggestions), and let them know how I felt about CCleaner in its present form and marketing strategy.

I feel a lot better now...
@Brink - do you know if they have a permanent link to get to the latest portable version?

Perhaps @Brink could provide a permanent link to the portable and slim versions on the first post.

The "CCleaner Download Link" on the first page has them all.

I still use CCleaner but I've blocked all outgoing network traffic for the 64 bit version.
No more adds or update requests. I update when I want.

This is the registry change that results form the Firewall rule I added:

    Block CCleaner Outbound Network Access.reg

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\FirewallRules]

    "{166AAF6D-8FA0-4B45-8AB7-7CE132B2B200}"="v2.28|Action=Block|Active=TRUE|Dir=Out|App=C:\\Program Files\\CCleaner\\CCleaner64.exe|Name=Block CCleaner Outbound Network Access|"

Do the same thing in an elevated PowerShell, by running the following command:

    Code:
New-NetFirewallRule -Name "CCleaner" -DisplayName "CCleaner Outbound" -Description "Block all outbound network traffic for CCleaner" -Direction Outbound -Program "%ProgramFiles%\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" -Action Block
