Good thing I did not download/update CCleaner to v5.45 and kept v5.44.
I delete the ccupdate.exe file from its program folder and run CCleaner 5.44 main program & I don't get any popup ads.

gonna try out some alternative cleaners like BleachBit & Wise Disk Cleaner.

Indeed, 5.46 fixed the monitoring bug.

    Hi folks
of course YMMV but these things in my view are really not necessary any more -- especially given the number of updates coming out of W10 at the moment and provided one takes regular backups.

In the past these things were absolutely OK but these days I feel a lot of 3rd party stuff for managing parts of Windows itself is becoming increasingly like snake oil.

Of course if you are happy with these continue to use them - just can't really see the point of them myself any more -- also I don't have a load of things on Windows other than browsers, VMware / HYPER-V, Ms Office, Photoshop, backup and partitioning suites, a spattering of multi media applications like VLC and a couple of front ends to access work / corporate applications such as SAPGUI for Windows.

There's not much if anything on my system which really needs to get uninstalled anyway.

    Cheers

Working fine here. Just a personal note....

I, as well as most members here and guests, do realize and understand that any software, all software, when installed by the user is at the users risk, and basic good practice and common sense should be the guide.

AhHaHaHaHaHaHaHa not only did they revert back to 5.44 to address their issue, but when they released 5.46 they removed the word monitoring and replaced it with smart cleaning
