Complaining about CCleaner collecting user data while running Windows 10. Double standards.

BTW isn't avast antivirus collecting user data as well?

Not off me, it isn't. And it's one thing to live with this kind of krap, it's quite another to contribute to it.

Unless you are an insider Windows doesn't override your preferences but yes there is an element of double standards. Don't know about Avast but I would be surprised if it wasn't.

I just read the HTG article and dumped CC 5.45 and installed 5.44. I will wait and see what Avast do to this version. I will also follow HTG suggestion and be the improved Windows native tool "Storage" to clean up the trash.

I don't see this behaviour in v5.45 since I turned off all monitoring under Options / Monitoring.

So I found a good substitute, and have uninstalled Ccleaner: CCleaner provokes fury over Active Monitoring, user data collection - Windows 10 Forums
The Avast-holes have ruined it for me with this last update.
I don't care about the coming changes, so time to unsub this thread.
    Bye ya'll.

I did that and found it had been turned on again on rebooting, can't be done with messing with this on 3 PC's. After using it from it's initial release as CrapCleaner it's gone.
Dumped Avast long time ago for removing my exclusions when it updated the program and it's extremely annoying advertising popups.
Any trust in CCleaner has been destroyed by Avast's obvious meddling.

HD cleaner currently under testing and seems to be OK, so long as none of the must buy up decent software and screw it up Companies doesn't take it over.
