    looks like that now the monitoring is activated by default...

    1 - Uncheck any * Monitoring in CCleaner apps
    2 - Delete the CCleaner Monitoring entry with autorun (for every USER !!!)
    3 - Kill any CCleaner running apps or restart computer
    I am not going through all that trouble to run a program that at one time was the best of it's kind. Avast ruins everything they get their hands on.

    I have uninstalled from all my machines. Even after running Autoruns, it keeps coming back. Good riddance. Fortunately for us, Windows clean manager is quite capable nowadays.

    I'm currently using CCleaner version 5.45.6611 Slim with no problems at all. The only weird thing is if I click on Check for updates it tells me that an update is available and takes me to version 5.44.6575, go figure that one

    Sorry to hear that. Did you disable (uncheck) for all "Users" and restart.

    A good alternative to CCleaner is Wise Disc Cleaner.

    My Ccleaner version 5.45.6611, is also showing the same update of 5.44.6575.

    What's up with this?

    I dunno, it's weird though. Probably a mistake for CCleaner to release version 5.45.6611 as there is no crap there

    In the past I've used Wise Disk Cleaner, unfortunately I found it a tad aggressive when cleaning.

    @DooGie

    Wouldn't that be a "downdate"?

    That should tell you how bad Avast has messed this program up.
