Managed to get it uninstalled but took some time to do so

Thank you. Since the last time it failed to completely erase windows.old, I have been using the built-in disk cleanup instead.

Is the new version having the same issue ?
I ask because removing windows.old is the only reason I chose Ccleaner.

I have windows defender which I am very happy with, but when I updated CCleaner, Avast over rode it and shut. It down, and as I posted before it took a long time to remove Avast and it kept throwing up questions why was I removing it, as my computer was unprotected, when I told them I had windows defender it came up it could not find it or recognised it. So have now sent an email to them also this morning when I started up my computer avast was once again overridding defender. Yet all traces of avast removed so wondering if it is now built in to CCleaner.

With all the spamming that Piriform products now perform without my authorisation I have removed their products from my system and will not use or recommend then in future

I will not get Ccleaner updates because the last two times I did I got Chrome without any ability to say NO. There was no box to check or uncheck. By the way, Chrome is also very difficult to remove everything. I had to do the register thing to find it all.

If I already had Chrome that probable wouldn't of happened.

Jack, I use chrome as my primary browser, and have used Avast in the past, I have also been a long time user and advocate for both Ccleaner, and Speccy and even the defragmenter, (when this was important as not properly covered by Microsoft's own tool)

The thing is with all of this is that it was my choice to use them, they were never forced upon me using subterfuge. Which is why my stance has recently changed :)

I've shifted to the portable versions. They don't appear to have released a portable version this time.

I have CCleaner Pro and this version NEVER adds anything else to my computer. When there is a new update, it can update itself if you allow it too. Guess the free version acts differently.
