Sometimes in this modern era with machines controlling just about everything one has to use caution and just don't go clicky clicky on everything you install. I go the slow route. I find that it works better than the fast. There was a time when one could install CCleaner without worry, those days are long gone my friends.
Not True Josey, IF you use the Registered Version or the Portable free version there is No Crap Ware at All.
If I like a program well enough and use it everyday, I buy it.

From some problems I had this morning with CCleaner update, I am trying the Portable free version. It is a little slower perhaps, but seems to do the job so far.

Just a heads up for everyone in case it hasn't already been mentioned.

The last 2 versions of CCleaner (536 and now 537) add a new entry in Task Scheduler:

This is in addition to the "Skip UAC" entry that has been there for years. My screenshot is from Windows 7 (I don't have a Windows 10 machine to try it on at the moment but it is probably the same).

The update task is added even though I unticked "Automatically check for updates to CCleaner" during the install. I've also checked in the Options settings after the install is complete and "Automatically check for updates to CCleaner" is unticked but the scheduled task is still there.

I don't know what happens if the task is running when a new CCleaner version is released (I disabled and deleted the task when I noticed it after installing 536 a week or so back). Hopefully it would just advise that a new version is available but it would be a bit of a worry if CCleaner updated itself and installed Avast at the same time without the users' knowledge.
