CCleaner is forcing updates on users who specifically opt out of automatic updates. Users will only find out about these unwanted updates when they check the version number.

The change was noticed by a forum user last week. The unwanted update happens in the background, without the users’ knowledge, and also results in Piriform gathering anonymized information about the user.

    Yeah Josey

I have been pondering trying that new beta but I just cannot bring myself to trust Avast anymore... Time to just delete the folder I keep the programs and registration in and never look back...

I use it plus CCleaner 5.40 with the net blocked by a firewall. I would not use anything Avast got their mitts on.

WDC is quite useful. CCleaner has the feature of managing restore points. Is there another recommended program which cam do this then I can just rely on WDC.

A couple of us have moved to HDCleaner https://kurtzimmermann.com/index_e.html . It does allow deleting Restore Points and so far it's working for me.

Restore points are pretty much useless and Not dependable ....Image backups are the Best Choice for protection.
