Thank you DooGie. First post updated.
Another phooey at the Avast-holes that now own Ccleaner:
After the update, it pre selected monitoring, and had Ccleaner running in system tray.
Since Ccleaner has had that option, I have had it turned off, and it was off after every update.... until now.
Same here. After installing this version I cannot disable real time monitoring. So I think it's time to say goodbye to Crap Cleaner. In fact, I don't need it anymore. And it has gone down the hill when AVAST acquired Piriform.
looks like that now the monitoring is activated by default...
1 - Uncheck any * Monitoring in CCleaner apps
2 - Delete the CCleaner Monitoring entry with autorun (for every USER !!!)
3 - Kill any CCleaner running apps or restart computer

I've given up on CCleaner updates due to various issues that newer versions have. I'm using V5.37.6309 and it seems to be stable and "controllable". I have check for updates disabled.
When I used ccleaner on Saturday, I had noticed that it had re-enabled monitoring, so I turned it off. After starting the machine this morning, I found that it was enabled again...
i have removed all CCleaner autoruns entry
* in task scheduler
* in HKCU:run and HKCM:run
Yo can do this within CCleaner itself (run it in admin mode)
an no more "automatic" monitoring enable
Only version I use right now is 5.40.6411 Pro. I have no problems at all with this release.
I use ccPortable from PortableApps.com. It's a wrapper around CCleaner in PortableApps format. It gets updated a few days after a new release and suffers from none of these problems.
