Mike, a lot of free versions of software will make deals with other companies or other divisions of their own company to help cover costs of producing and distributing the free version (the main reason o do this is of course to drive sales of the commercial product.
This is fine as long as it is done openly with no attempt to dupe the user into downloading and installing, something that they may not need or just do not want.

There are too many reports of the unauthorised installation of Avast and Chrome when installing the free version of Ccleaner to be just accidental. There is nothing wrong with the paid version of CCleaner and nothing technically wrong with the free version, but the installation of an unauthorised AV or browser is a dangerous thing and could even cause system failure.

Jack, I use chrome as my primary browser, and have used Avast in the past, I have also been a long time user and advocate for both Ccleaner, and Speccy and even the defragmenter, (when this was important as not properly covered by Microsoft's own tool)

The thing is with all of this is that it was my choice to use them, they were never forced upon me using subterfuge. Which is why my stance has recently changed :)
I only reason I use the older version of Cclenaer is the great job it does removing all cookies.

If their is a built in Windows 10 way of removing all cookies, please advise me.

    Jack

I remove cookies selectively in the Browser's own settings ( the actual method varies with each browser ) - It's not the simple click and forget it method as most do with Ccleaner but it should always be a selective task anyway, this is the same with temporary files and other functions of Ccleaner,

Yes it takes longer but it's good to actually dig into the bowels of the system and see how things tick

I also do not use Ccleaner for that purpose.

    Hi,

A couple of months now I'm observing this, in CCleaner Pro: my Recycle Bin appears full right after running CCleaner. I mean, the icon on my Desktop does not show "emptied", and I have to hover over it with the cursor and only then it shows empty.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Does anyone know?
Sorry if this has been addressed already, no time to read the entire thread now.

    Thank you.

Are you using the default icon or a custom one?

I am using the default icons on my Windows 10 Pro. Nothing custom, no changes at all. I am even using the Default (blue) desktop background image that comes with Windows.

Ok, I asked because when using a custom icon, you need to make some registry adjustmunts.

But since you are using the default one, you might want to try this tutorial to repair the recycle bin: Fix Corrupted Recycle Bin in Windows Performance Maintenance Tutorials
