just downloaded the latest version via filehippo and the avast bloatware isn't included
This happend back in September too I see: Making AVAST Go Away? Solved - Windows 10 Forums
And just for the record(I did a search): CCleaner and installing avast with out permission...
I just finally updated Ccleaner on my laptop(I haven't used it in a while), and the Avast ad was still there, but now it is unselected by default... at least with this download.
I downloaded it from their Builds Page.
I thought I would post this in all fairness, as the ad/option was never the problem for me, just that it was preselected, and could cause less cautious users, a headache.
Just my opinion, but I think that an Antivirus should not be a free add on option to any installer, the fact that this could be set auto selected is a disgrace, but even the option to check an option to install an antivirus is not sensible as an un-informed or accidental choice can have disastrous consequences. Who can tell what will happen if the user has another AV installed and that set-up turns out to be incompatible with avast and that leads to a loss of valuable data - Is Avast prepared to meet the users costs for recovery.
An AV system is such an important and deeply integrated piece of software that it has to be a conscious choice of the User - Windows ships with reasonable options for system protection, so there is no justification for force feeding the user for this , by all means use Ccleaner as an optional add on with an Avast install, or even integrate the functionality into the avast package
Ccleaner is an optional item that most users will install after the system security is selected and set so should not provide any chance for accidental damage due to unplanned installation
