Win 10 own disk cleanup app was unable to remove the windows.old left-over either.
Install a version of Linux on a bootable usb stick, then you can remove it.... if everything else fails. I've done it that way in the past.

    find 8.3 name(contains the tilde(~)
like here for AdwCleaner it's ADWCLE~1

To remover the windows.old 0 byte folder
    in command

    >rd /s (8.3 name here)
    Example:
    >rd /s ADWCLE~1
    >are you sure?(Y/N)

Be ABSOLUTLY sure of the 8.3 name, because what you delete will be gone, and unrecoverable.

Lol, I'll do it from a live Linux distro, should leave no trace. I had to upgrade some tools and Linux distros from 2 USBs I had them on but didn't get around to do it yet so they ere empty, just collecting some tools for them which isn't as easy as for windows. Those are mostly tools for work with HW (because Linux works with it more directly), file retrieving tools and some AV stuff.
I used a live Linux distro Mike, didn't have Linux installed. It was easy enough to fix the Trash directory in Windows though. I just booted from the Ubuntu DVD again and emptied Trash then booted into Windows and deleted the Trash directory.

As of version 5.36 : Without asking for permission, CCleaner now inserts itself into your Windows Task Scheduler and runs permanently, phoning home, even if you UNCHECKED auto-updating at installation (!)

    Do disable this intrusive behavior:
Start > Type: Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library > Right click Delete CCleaner items

    I asked them:
What is the purpose of giving us the option to disable automatic updates at installation.... if you nevertheless inserted CCleaner exes into the Windows Task Scheduler itself to permanently run !

They justified this by saying that it's an emergency updater in case the same thing happens again.
I don't know if it's just me, but I find the opposite to be true, if they get taken over by a third party (again) then that third party has an immediate takeover route to us, by using the "emergency" updater they inserted into the Windows Task Scheduler without any way to turn this off inside CCleaner itself, even if you disable updates.

Is there an issue with Ccleaner and Windows 10 FCU ? I have had the enclosed screenshot for the past 20 minutes! If I run windows clean up I don't see anything mentioned of memory dump.

Thanks for that. In addition, unless it's really, really hiding, that CCleaner scheduler job isn't even listed in their own generated list of advanced schedule tasks. Tricky.....
