    Price to pay for popularity.
And this perfectly sums up why people who disable defender saying they never visit dodgy sites etc. re idiots.

Although I never recommend ccleaner as too dangerous in wrong hands, it is genuinely legitimate.

I meant that popular programs are more frequently "attacked" by malware. In this case it looks like it was downloader it was taken advantage of.

Yeah - I got that - I was just saying how people who think it is safe to disable defender etc. as they claim they have ever been infected, so it is a waste of resources etc. are idiots because you cannot rely on sites of popular programs being infection free .

Right, even if it was possible to run all existing AVs at same time it wouldn't be enough.

Posting this News Update posted on Piriform's site this morning, has more information about the attack to CCleaner.

    Posted Today, 02:12 AM
We recently determined that older versions of our Piriform CCleaner v5.33.6162 and CCleaner Cloud v1.07.3191 had been compromised. We resolved this quickly and believe no harm was done to any of our users. This compromise only affected customers with the 32-bit version of the v5.33.6162 of CCleaner and the v1.07.3191 of CCleaner Cloud. No other Piriform or CCleaner products were affected. We encourage all users of the 32-bit version of CCleaner v5.33.6162 to download v5.34 here: download. We apologize and are taking extra measures to ensure this does not happen again.

    Hi @Eagle51

Your router will still recieve Firmware updates.
The ISP rolls those out and they dont touch the OS.
Usually performed at a predetermined time/date.
You can check by going into your router settings page, via your browser

    Attention CCleaner users:

Nice find. Just so users don't freak out. :)

It is also important to note that while previous versions of the CCleaner installer are currently still available on the download server, the version containing the malicious payloads has been removed and is no longer available.

I ended using CCleaner for years ago, in my opinion Windows contains the tools needed to maintain system.

I think it does a fine job as would Revo uninstaller.

The issue is that with tools that play around the registry and other key files, you have to know what your doing.
