Curious how long it will take before they wake up...........

Strange , some people seem to be not affected by this bug !
They suggest there is something wrong with my system , when I tell them ; using the previous version of CCleaner , all is fine and the bug is gone , no answers anymore.................
That is always the fix if a new release has bugs. I just don't know why some people expect new versions to be entirely bug free for all users. They can't test every combination of installed software and settings.

Anyway a fix is on the way. I n the meantime those who couldn't wait to install the new version before it was confirmed bug free should roll back to the previous version.

Hi everyone, I'm sorry that this issue made it out into the wild. We are working on a fix but in the meantime, as some of you have discovered, you can downgrade to v6.02 via this link to avoid this behaviour. You do not need to uninstall, simply installing over the top is fine.
Some new releases invariably have bugs. For the umpteenth time why on earth do people rush to update or auto update? It makes zero sense. Let the unaware test new releases and if no bugs are reported then install.

Your point on the rushing to update is well taken, but please remember we on these forums do not live in a vacuum. There are thousands, 10's of thousands of users out there who are auto-update or not privy to our discussions. Like many updates from many vendors, including MS, the regular Joe and Sue out there would not understand your reasoning.

I understand what you are saying and you are of course correct. Then again any long time user of Ccleaner should know that new releases are often buggy.

i only use portable versions of anything, but after seeing this thread i got curious and checked.

now i dont normally have System Restore enabled on any of my machines but when i looked it was enabled on all machines so disabled through System Protection so will keep an eye on it and see what happens in the future.

    i'm currently using V6.01.9825

i dont normally update any of my portable apps as i'm happy with the version i have and they all do whats needed.

Tests done by @Bree suggests that the driver updater is the problem and if you remove the folders related to that you get rid of the problem. See this from Eleven Forum New CCleaner released | Page 2 | Windows 11 Forum

My solution was to remove the crap from the current version then it works fine. No optimizer, no software updater and no driver updater.

Official solution is to install the previous version over the top and then wait for the next one before updating.
