installed program not showing in start menu

just wondered......if I use a program, think it's called a mobile version, doesn't install...e.g. copytrans shelbee....where the .exe is just pasted into the 'C' hdd then a shortcut created, can I use the procedures given earlier to add this to the start programs and pin to the start menu. ???

seems to be happening again...but this time on my PC ..just installed sync toy from Microsoft and freefilesync and none showing in all apps....maybe I need to run the command files cliff S gave me before....

just. heckled my laptop and the freefilesync I installed shows in recently added apps, but on the PC it doesn't...

also so on the laptop it shows as installed ' new' want to get this the same on my PC will run the command line sequence and see if it fixes it as it did the laptop.....don't know why it's gone wrong though

Have run the script you gave me ( which fixed the same issue on the laptop W10 Home 32 bit ) and it completed ok Just reinstalled a small program called recuva, still not showing as recently added or new or indeed it is not showing in the all apps menu at all, ok on laptop with W10.....not sure how to repair this....might try the Microsoft forum and see if anyone else has seen \ resolved this issue...
