yes that is a new corrupt file but it really should be a way to make dism locate the source files when they are right in front of the cmd; previously this summer running dism was no problem but now just won't find source...need some input, thanks

Kyhi , thanks for your good work on the PE. Much appreciated.

I'm just playing with it now, but I intend on shrinking the partition on the USB stick, then creating a second partition where I can store my own programs for easy access. I'm assuming I can't add them to a folder within the PE partition without breaking it?

In the same vein, I'd like to update the database of MBAM, but am afraid that might break the bootability?

You can add your portable programs to the Root of the USB... Or use Modify-PE to included them within the boot.wim and create a new ISO
You can update the MBAM definition Database (ProgramData\Malewarebytes) and again use Modify-PE to swap out the database folder, then create a new ISO

Thanks much. That helps a lot. I'll have to look into the Modify-PE program. There is a utility that partitions USBs, but I don't recall what it is at this point.

The problem may be that Windows can't access more than one partition on a thumb drive.

This is not entirely true - if usb drive has the fixed disk attribute set, it behaves like a normal hard drive. These are not that common but do exist eg windows to go certified drives. Vast majority are "removeable" though so windows can only see one partition in that case (although it is possible to put more than one partition with linux),

True. It's not something that you can set yourself though.

Some drives were configurable but rare.
