Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

Very new to the forum, apologies for any questions found stupid or repetitions of questions already answered elsewhere. Under the stress of a bricked system one loses some wisdom and some ethics, sorry.

Case: totally unbootable Win10 laptop, with none of the usual built-in repair/recovery functions working or accessible at all. Found your tool (excellent job and thank you very much!) and managed to boot from a USB drive, but am rather ignorant about the tools included and my problems start here:
    - Using the in-tool Explorer I sometimes see, and sometimes do not see the host main HDD. On some boots it appears, and on some boots it doesn't?
    - On the couple of occasions when it showed up I managed to transfer some of my data (valuable work content) to backup drives, but there is still lots there.
    - I tried to fix it using some of the tools but they either refuse to work with the drive, or start and then hang/freeze. Also a plain sfc /scannow from admin command prompt (when host drive is visible) starts but hangs/freezes shortly after that.
    - I suspect badly damaged HDD (its a Toshiba 250GB SSD), possibly messed partitions and system files. In the last >5 boot attempts it fails to show up and I cannot attempt any diagnostics or repairs.

Any ideas of tools or techniques I might use to (a) see the drive after USB boot with Win10PESE, and (b) run checks - in what order?

Many thanks for any tips and suggestions.

If you have access to a desktop computer I would put that drive in it as a second drive and see if it could be read and copy your files over. You could only have a bad controller in the laptop and not a bad SSD.

In most cases I'd do that as well but this is a Sony 'hybrid' tablet/laptop (Vaio Duo 11) with tricky mechanical design, not very repair-friendly and I am not too dextrous with screwdrivers and tools. Hence I'm reluctant to physically take it out and trying to access from outside.

As of this very moment, I managed another boot with the 'C:' drive visible (that's the letter it assumes when visible, otherwise 'C:' is the bootable USB). Moving data to external archive (transfer is slow-ish but I'm grateful it's happening at all).

Next I'll attempt to make this drive bootable again. Any suggestions which tools (and in what order) to use for this?

    thx,
    L.

P.S. Booting with Win10PESE takes incredibly long - 10-s of minutes! Is this normal for an all-solidstate system?

    Hello there,

What are the rescue tools included in this bootable rescue disk ?
I don't see any list in the first page

For information, I'm looking for the WindowsPE equivalent of the old ultimate CD boot

    Thanks

@Arese Download it and open with 7-Zip or WinRAR and look in these folders. There is a complete list.

Better yet, make a Thumb or DVD and boot it! It's great. But you can look first to see what's there. TC

Oh great I didn't know I could do that.
I'll download it and check it out then.
    Thanks man :)

EDIT : I can't get to see these folders since boot.wim seems to be a file and not a folder.
    How did you do ?

Not that familiar with WinRAR, but 7-Zip works perfectly. Just right-click an Open, not extract. Then double click each till you drill down to the contents.

@Arese Not sure what's happening on your end with WinRAR. I just installed WinRAR to test it, and got this. Seems to work fine. Not sure what to tell you. The file you are opening doesn't look quite like mine. You're sure you downloaded the correct file from post #1, page #1 ??

When I do WinRAR, I get this:

I did download the right file since I just booted it and it works fine.
I got to check the tools live and I'll definitely keep that thumb in case of emergency
