Yes, wind.exeone has windx.exe and the other wind.exe
This Win10PESE Rescue media was created over a year ago.. So yes..
Win10PESE loads All software into Memory. No software is permanently installed or loaded into or onto your PC
Hopefully, these 2 questions aren't buried in the 132 pages of this thread.
- Does the iso get updated periodically? If so, where do you find the latest version?
- Is there a link to or a tutorial on how to customize the iso myself?
I just used the PESE tool to boot my Lenovo. I found out about it on a forum thread where the author said, "So your HDD is seen as just another disk...So you can plug in a USB drive and copy files from your HDD to the external drive, for example."
The PESE loaded ok, but when I looked in Explorer, it only recognized the USD drive, DVD drive, etc. I couldn't find my HDD or personal files, pics, documents anywhere. Can you give any help as to what I'm doing wrong? Or does this mean my HDD is just totally shot?
Thanks for any help!!! I'm no expert, but would like to save some of my files I hadn't backed up![]()
Background: My Lenovo Ideapad 520 is new, purchased only 3 months ago, running Windows 10 Pro. It's been great until last night, I noticed it working extra hard, and saw in Task Manager that Disc Usage was at 99%. Rebooted, didn't open anything, usage still at 99%. I found on forums different things to try, 3rd thing I tried was Chkdsk (didn't know it would take hours). 4 hours later when Chkdsk showed only at 10%, I got a BSOD, so I forced shut off. After that, it wouldn't boot up, only stuck on Lenovo logo. Tried booting from Microsoft's ISO USB, but System Repair didn't work, and System Restore gave error message. I was going to try the PESE to recover some files before trying a clean re-install.
Either PESE is missing the driver for your HDD or your HDD has failed...
I would suggest getting an external USB HDD enclosure and seeing if you can read your current HDD that way, via another PC...
If you can read your current HDD via another PC, then copy your personal files, before doing a Clean Installation
