I've just come across this thread as my Windows 10 system won't start due to a foul-up with Acronis True Image 2018.
I downloaded and burnt the 64 bit file given at the top of the thread but the resultant DVD seems to be just a 10 recovery disk. So there must be another aspect to this, is there a nice easy to follow 'noddy' guide that shows me how to use the hidden (to me, anyway) additional recovery facilities?

the administrators have a hard work trying to answer and maintaining this thread clean.
ok... This CD Tool is good but it's not pretend to support normal users.
Its a full blown desktop that have pre-installed a few tools that you can use to test your windows installation. IT runs completely in memory.... so the space is scarce.
You can try a few programs that you can download from several tools sites or other CD Tools, but for space use do not install them... use only those that run without a install process...
off course if you are a medium or advance user you can try to use the several commands that windows have to make modifications and validations on your troubled/jammed installation
That's what i did when I came across with a few problematic W10 installations and when I find this ISO Tool. (all my old iso tools weren't UEFI capable)
Of course for that you can study the several post that appear in this thread or look in the other threads in the forum for something that can help you.
Talking about your problem, My advise is that you open a new post in the forum and explain exactly what happens, error msgs, etc .. when you try to install again your BK and the things mess up...

As you can find you will not be the first one to have a problem like that...
If you read the post, bertie11 is trying to run the recovery tool and has been unable. He is not talking about Acronis per se.
Your reply is also rather inaccurate. It is NOT a full blown desktop with some programs. It is a Windows PE environment that has some full desktop elements. It can only run portable applications that can be executed in a Win PE environment i.e. does not have dependencies on APIs etc only in full Windows environment.
The tool is designed for all levels of skill, except perhaps a complete novice. More experienced users know how to add tools by mounting the boot.wim file using dism, adding/removing stuff and saving updated boot.wim.

airtech, I mentioned ATI in the context of 'my system has collapsed and I'm getting pretty desperate to get it fixed'. I could have said my dog knocked it on the floor, the end result would be the same, desperation!
Kyhi, I have raised a thread in Installation & Upgrade I need a windows 10 1709 repair disk! - Windows 10 Forums but I'm not sure what to try next, I'm not sure about this recovery disk as I will need to do some research so I (hopefully) understand how to build and use it.

Download my ISO
Mount ISO
Copy ISO contents to a FAT32 Formatted USB
Boot your problem PC from that USB Media....
That way you can SEE via explorer your files...
I also read your other thread..
You have a WINDOWS folder and a Windows.old folder
the WINDOWS folder was created on March 18
Rename the "Windows" folder to "windows.sav"
rename windows.old folder to windows
then repair your BCD...
You would be best served by creating this rescue media......
