Yeah, it works fine on all other devices - it's just the three 7050s that give me this error.
They're covered with 'Pro' support so I've asked Dell for some clarification. I'll let you know when I've had a response.
Do post your Dell Support results for our knowledge base. Cheers
This is interesting and new to me Windows 10: Update error 0xc0000017 (no ramdisk memory) | Borns Tech and Windows World
Never heard of {badmemory} before...?
Thanks SuperFly for the read...
So based upon what I understand the issue to be.
It appears that the current windows os wrote memory blocks into the Host BCD file..
So either something over wrote the BCD on your USB stixk
Or you are booting PE from your Host BCD
Mount PE ISO and copy the contents to a Fat32 formatted USB stick
Boot directly from USB by using F12 Boot Menu Options
Hy Kyhi.
I can't claim to fully understand the link in Superfly's post, but since the key boots fine on other PCs (including two Dell XPS 13 laptops) can we assume the BCD hasn't been overwritten?
I used Rufus to make the key so I'll try remaking it using the 'format and copy contents of mounted ISO' instructions.
Booting was done via F12 options anyway and there's no OS on the PC so looks like the message is from the key. What do you think?
Do you know how to read or access the BCD ??
there are two on the usb
/Boot\BCD
/efi\microsoft\boot\bcd
If you could .zip and then attach to post, to share..
Or just overwrite USB with ISO contents, to be sure..
As first ever seem that issue..
Kyhi.
I just confirmed I get the same error on a second Dell 7050 with this key (Windows installation media boot fine, by the way).
Here's the contects of the BCDs:
There is one entry in the Windows bootloader.
Path: E:\Boot\BCD
Default: Windows Setup
Timeout: 30 seconds
EasyBCD Boot Device: E:\
Entry #1
Name: Windows Setup
BCD ID: {default}
Device: [boot]\sources\boot.wim
Bootloader Path: \windows\system32\boot\winload.exe
There is one entry in the Windows bootloader.
Path: E:\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD
Default: Windows Setup
Timeout: 30 seconds
EasyBCD Boot Device: E:\
Entry #1
Name: Windows Setup
BCD ID: {default}
Device: [boot]\sources\boot.wim
Bootloader Path: \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi
However, I can see it's formatted NTFS so I'll try reformatting FAT32 and copying files as previously advised.
Same result with new FAT32 key made as advised.
Were the BCD contents as pasted from EasyBCD okay? I can zip and send if there's anything else you'd be able to see.
