Months ago I downloaded the x64 winpe iso from the first page of this thread. It has worked in the past for me no issues but now today I cannot boot to it from a Hyper-V generation 2 VM with secure boot shut off. It tells me hyper-v generation 2 no x64 based uefi boot loader was found scsi dvd.

Can anyone assist? I need this VM to boot this ISO to use Macrium.

I remembered how I got it to work:

    1. First I created a virtual machine with one empty virtual disk, on which I wanted to install Windows 10.
    2. I then inserted my USB with Windows 10 boot media into my physical client (the host).
    3. After booting the virtual machine, I realized I can’t boot from the USB. That’s when I started to Google for a solution and found your post.
    4. I turned off my virtual machine, after which I moved my empty virtual disk from location 0 to location 1 (for IDE controller 0). I currently don’t know if this was necessary, but I did it.
    5. I then started to create a new virtual disk as you described in your post. However, in the add-new-virtual-disk-dialog I got an option to copy files from any of my physical disks, and since the USB drive was still plugged into the physical machine I could easy select that as source for the copy and let Hyper-V do the rest. That is, no need for task 2 and 3 from your list above.
    6. When the virtual disk was created/copied, I started the virtual machine, and the Windows 10 installation program started right away without any further input from my side.

In case that helps anyone else out.

You can boot direct from Macrium Rescue iso.

Just download and create a new WinPE from the link in the first thread again. I have it as boot option choice.

Is recovering a Reflect v7 created image doable with Reflect v6 recovery?

I think Macrium is backward compatible but not forwards , so you would need to make a Ver.7 recovery disk ...on another computer if needed.

I use a CDRW and update it each time Macrium installs a new Version to avoid this issue..

Thanks, that's what I was thinking and didn't want to find out the hard way.

I tried both Kyhi disks I have today on an older system ( non-efi) in an attempt to fix an issue with an SSD and was surprised neither 16.07 or 17.01 was bootable , not sure why as I have used both numerous times. One of my Macrium Rescue Disks was able to boot the system and get me to a dos prompt so I could clean the SSD with Diskpart , so I know CDRW's are bootable , perhaps it is cos your Disk is On DVD , it is a DVD drive, so not sure why it can boot CDs but not DVD's perhaps.

I guess I need to add Drivers to your Boot disks ? but the Computer didn't get that far , as far as I could tell , it just stopped at a flashing dos prompt just after it tried to boot off the DVD Drivein both cases , so I think something else is going on ....

Try and Use a USB Stick...
Also verify you are using the proper supported Arch PE
Also allow some time to expand the boot.wim and load the system..
Also not sure if DVD RW are bootable unless finalized

Why didn't you say that 6 hrs ago :) , I should of thought of trying that .....

I was hoping you might have a clue why the disks wouldn't boot as they do on other computers... My guess is it is the DVD player in this case.... as they are standard DVD disks and worked on two other computers here

EDIT: 17.01 Iso Confirmed to work with a fat32 formatted USB Drive ! THX.

good use for an old 2GB ( or 4GB) USB drive if you have one lying around doing nothing...
