Yah, I posted a while back a little something in one of Shawn's tutorial threads about using those keys to do the upgrade.
I saw that, but wanted to be sure. I'm getting a monster this week but it comes with Home.

The 7,8, and 8.1 keys can still make a crappy OEM Win10 Home version to Pro, right?
    Or not?
It is my understanding that Win10 Setup no longer accepts 7/8/8.1 keys for activation so many days after the free offer ended. Someone who's installed the OS recently and tried older version keys can correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hi C.
Recently saw post where somebody had upgraded from oem 8 to 10 during free period and used showkeyplus and of course it showed the useless generic 10 key as being retail. Poster thought this meant he now has a retail 10 key not understanding how digital licences worked.

I wonder if it possible to make output clearer eg can you tell key is generic, and if so say so?

    rgds.

Cheers, I had a similar request at Github as well - I will include it in the next release...

    1. Keyboard shortcuts such as Alt+R and Alt+C for the Retrieve and Check key links respectively would be great. And when one is checking a key, maybe Backspace can take one back to the main screen, just like clicking on the back arrow. You can show these shortcuts in tooltips when people hover over the two links or the back button.

    2. It would be nice if the Check product key page automatically made the textbox focused for immediate Ctrl+V.

    3. Currently if one makes a mistake one can't click the wrongly entered key to edit it since the textbox is automatically cleared. Instead can you made it not clear automatically and if required you can add a clear or X button instead.

4a. It would be nice if the program can do some cleanup of pasted keys. For example, the program should automatically trim any whitespace before or after pasted keys (a common problem when text is copied from a browser).

4b. Another bit of cleanup/formatting it can do is that if a string like "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" is entered (or one with improper number of dashes), then auto-format it properly as "XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX".

In short, the program should extract only the first 25 valid characters from the pasted text, insert dashes after every 5 chars and then display it.

    5. Would it be possible to make the program fully portable, i.e. not write to the registry at all? The color setting can be stored in an INI file or something along with the EXE.

Hi, I recently installed this program and have a question:

I currently have an old dell pc, running Win 10 Home, where I want to replace the motherboard. The computer originally came with Win 7. I then upgraded free to 8.1 then upgraded for free to Win 10.

The ShowKeyPlus program shows that the OEM Key: Windows 7 OEM marker present in firmware.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the initial Win 7 Product key was an OEM.. meaning its tied to the cpu/motherboard. I don't think I can re-use this product key at all on the new motherboard. Is this correct?
