Hopefully they get it sorted quickly then, it can't hurt having multiple false positive reports in my opinion.
2 working days means I won't get any reply back till at least next Tuesday.

Just want to remind ya'll about the prior key spammer with an exe of the same name...
Not the issue here with the actual official Showkey posted here... But the un-official one floating the web..

Well I was very surprised to find a reply early this morning from Norton. Here is a clip of that email. :)

Upon further analysis and investigation we have verified your submission and as such this detection will be removed from our products.
The updated detection will be distributed in the next set of virus definitions, available via LiveUpdate
Please note that whitelisting can take up to 24 hours to take effect.

Update: This is only for the file "dm_log_collector.exe" just to clarify :)

    Hi Geoff,

Sorry for the trouble! Please follow the instructions here http://https://support.norton.com/sp...rProfile_en_us to exclude this from the scan and report it to us. We will look into this for you.

    Thanks

Thank you for the response, much appreciated, as well as the longer term solution now progress. Have followed the link, but it did not work for me either. As ShowkeyPlus is not something one runs repeatedly on the same PC, I much prefer the longer term solution which is to get it officially whitelisted by Norton.

    best

I know the work around. The big point is, it shouldn't be blocked to begin with. It has been reported to Norton and we were told it had been fixed. But, it hasn't.
...And that is exactly the point - developers cannot keep second guessing what to add into their programs for fear of it being tarnished with an incorrect PUP label.

Yup... or better still, instead of erring on the conservative, they should have more intuitive definitions.

But as Mike says... by far, most have not had a problem.

Either way it would be nice to know what triggers the blacklisting.

Update on our problem with Norton and dm_log_collector.exe
Just wanted to let everyone know, I am still working on this, the email I got from Norton the other day told me this issue would be fixed in 24hrs. Its been 48 hrs and on my other computer, which runs Norton too, this issue is still not fixed.

So I was just back on Norton support again for another hour this morning, showing them the email they sent me, telling them about this issue ALL OVER again .....ended up going thru 2 of their support people ...1st one ran away ...2nd one said 1st one got disconnected ....right.... Anyhow .....2nd tech told me he is going to escalate this issue to their top people...again....and are going to send me another email confirming when this issue is resolved. My email and phone # are on file with Norton.....and I had the tech confirm that too.....their not that smart....

Right now it looks like another 2 more days, making it Tuesday instead of Monday ....for the issue to be fixed.

I am a VERY stubborn old man...I am NOT going to give up folks, until I get this stupid problem IS fixed by Nortons. Trust ME ...I don't give up easy. Just wanted you all to know....I am fighting this issue until Norton fixes it.
