    Quicken 2004 - Windows 10 Install

Follow the native install instructions as per this excellent post on the '7' forum.

The steps I took to run Quicken 2004 on Windows7 Professional Solved - Windows 7 Help Forums

It still works a treat for Windows 10 and should now see me through to retirement!

I have managed to install Quicken 2004 Disc 2 on Windows 10, and loaded data onto it, however when I try to back up to a memory stick the whole system freezes and becomes unresponsive. Any solutions? Any one else had this problem? Aidan.

I am also getting this problem when I try to back up my Quicken files - not just to a USB but to anywhere! Has anyone worked out how to resolve it?
    Thanks,

    Resolved!
Follow the link referred to in the top post for this topic - this one The steps I took to run Quicken 2004 on Windows7 Professional Solved - Windows 7 Help Forums

Install Quicken as per the instructions but then scroll down and read the further instructions from Fellwalker to set the compatibility mode to Windows 7 - and Hey Presto! The backup now works! Thank you Fellwalker!!

    problems

After a complete crash (possibly caused by vulnerability in latest W10 update?) I'm now trying to reinstall programs. Previously I'd had no problems, and I've followed the main posts by Geoff King and others. But this time I've tried repeatedly to reinstall from the 2004 disc and get either 1) small Quicken screen which promptly disappears and I can't get any further, or 2) 'this program cannot be installed...missing mfc70.dll, msvcr70dll and msvcp70.dll' as GK suggests.
I have tried copying them (from another old computer) but still have no joy.
I'm desperate now! Can anyone suggest anything else I can do, please??

This is how I made Quicken work on my new Win 10 PC

I was lucky as I had my old PC available but I followed this guidance from here - Quicken 2004. Windows 10 compatibility - Microsoft Community

2004•0Í7....and here I was thinking my 2012 was a prehistoric artifact! Anyway, have you tried using the compatibility troubleshooter to install?

    Windows 10 Fall Creators Update

I've installed Quicken 2004 on every Windows OS to date but cannot now install on Win10 Fall creators Update. 25% through, I get an error "Component: Quicken, File Group: ProgDlls, File error: The system cannot find the file specified."

I can't find out what that might mean. Any ideas?

Out of interest, I decided to copy the entire Quicken directory from my old machine and it runs! I get an error message when it starts "Online setup information is missing" but it seems to go on and run just fine. The only other thing is that the icon for its shortcut isn't the usual red Q.
