Windows 10 Drag/Drop any file to Word 2013 and 2016 fails

    Topic:
I want to be able to drag a file from explorer, desktop, web browser link, etc; into Word 2013 and/or 2016.

    Software of importance
    Windows 10 x64
    Office 2013 x64
    Office 2016 x64

So to start off after upgrading from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 10, I was no longer able to drag and drop files from one app into an open Word window and load them. Single files or multiple files, drag and drop no longer worked.

Ohkay; so first I tracked down the registry hack to totally disable UAC. That was fine but Word no longer was able to load/convert PDF files, giving me the Word cannot load filter PDF... issue. And of course most Microsoft base software suddenly no longer works.

I turned UAC back on and now I can once again load/convert PDF files in Word (and use calculator and Edge etc), but again can not drag/drop multiple files.

I've got the sole account (excluding "special") set as an Administrator with UAC set to the lowest possible setting.
I have also set a custom shortcut on the taskbar loading the program with full elevated privileges.

Any thoughts on how to leave UAC set to 1 in the registry AND be able to drag and drop files from A to B?

Problem solved, needed to switch to x64 version of office. X32 and X64 are not exchangeable via explorer.

I purchased Office 2019 for a WIndows 10 Pro system and thought I had the same problem. Articles on the web suggested failure to drag and drop could be fixed by unchecking and the restarting cached mode for exchange boxes or repeatedly hitting escape. None of this is relevant. The fix is as follows : There is none : as there is no problem - Under Office 2016 and 2019 systems if you search your Inbox and there are no subfolders you can highlight and drag and drop to any new folder. However if you have more than 1 folder or subfolder as most folks do than look for next to the search box Current Mailbox or other choices which include Current Folder. These choices appear also in the top navigation ribbon - Panel if you open that AND once you start to type in search : in other words these options appear always next to search and in the top ribbon once you start typing into search. Click on Current Folder for your Inbox not Current Mailbox or in the top ribbon. Run your search in a current folder (the one you are in such as you inbox). You can highlight multiple emails and drag and drop them . You can also do this in Sent. What you cannot do is search all folders and drag and drop your results from multiple folders to a single folder. At least not if you have an exchange mail. I spent an hour with an Msoft engineer on this and he had heard of this problem and mentioned this among other fixes including re-installing my software which I did : however I did that only after i failed to notice I was searching under Current Mailbox NOT Current folder. Search only in a Current Folder and you are good to go - hope this saves some folks Sunday time otherwise better spent ! And Msoft should post this solution to the web for the same reason : many people are baffled by this as was I - it's simple once you understand the fix is in the machine obscure though the commands may be
