Glary Utilities Is Being Reported As Harmful Per Microsoft W10?

    Hello.

Need your help. I am having issues with Microsoft Edge (new Chromium version) able to download the *.exe file for Glary Utilities and for that matter Microsoft Defender (I would assume it is originating.) on my Windows 10 Pro x64. Why is Microsoft blocking it or preventing it from downloading or installing? How can I overcome and install Glary Utilities without Microsoft Defender giving me (or us) issues? I can download it through Google Chrome fine. Norton 360 says it is fine after automatic download scan too.

    Please reply. Thanks!

On the box shown at the bottom click on More info and choose Run anyway.

Smartscreen can't be reached... perhaps an internet connection problem. Are you using a VPN?

I myself would not use software like Glary Utilities these programs cause more problem than they promote they can repair.

If you still want to install Glary Utilities then disable SmartScreen you can do this from Windows Security center or with the batch script i have attached.

If not used properly this software can to damage. Only use if you are experienced with Glary Unities. Wind 10 must have just started doing this, I have used this in the past without getting a warning. I also no longer use it.

    Hello again!

@ Winuser: "On the box shown at the bottom click on More info and choose Run anyway." So you think this is no issues with Glary Utilities to download, install, and run? Then what you do think is going on here with Microsoft Defender or its SmartScreen feature? It says it sees issues with it. What do you think is going on?

@ dalchina: "Smartscreen can't be reached... perhaps an internet connection problem. Are you using a VPN?" No, I was not using any VPN; not even Norton 360's VPN. Let me get this clear that the download was successful with the Google Chrome browser (That is where that 2nd and 3rd green window reporting is coming from.) and placed the download file in my downloads folder. I observed that it took a long time and it was hanging up during the download on Chrome which is unusual as there is no issue on Chrome's downloads as hesitating I have experienced so far. I think Microsoft Defender has doing something in the back ground's SmartScreen during the download. Basically, it looks like Windows Defender is fighting to not download it no matter what web browser I am using.

@ FreeBooter: "I myself would not use software like Glary Utilities these programs cause more problem than they promote they can repair." Are you saying that it causes more damage during its cleaning processes that it says it does? I have never used Glary Utilities, so I have no experience with it. All I have read and seen YouTube videos and it looks pretty good, even at the free version. I know of CCleaner and I have used it for years without issue. I know GHacks and other websites have said to stay away in recent years for previous infection and privacy issues, but the infection issues have been resolved. Privacy is still not I am told completely. The important thing is CCleaner to me is that it runs fast using the Custom Clean feature in a few minutes. CCleaner is conservative in its cleaning methods and does not cause problematic damage. Not sure about Glary Utilities if it does, but you contend that it does in some way? Please reply. Thanks!

I got a smart screen warning when updating it today.

It has many features- I very rarely use it, and certainly wouldn't use its registry cleaner or driver updater, for example, but there are some useful features.

One way to safely use Glary or any other similar utility set is:
-- Saturday or Sunday, make full images of OS and data partitions onto external media
-- Monday or Tuesday, install said utility and use cautiously, carefully, sparingly
-- if all is really well, next Saturday or Sunday, make full images...
