Choosing stream - given what that says- means the files you synched are in the cloud (on Google's server) and not on your PC.
Note: I don't use Google drive, so I found the user guide for you - and that's what it says...

Thanks to all for their help. I have now managed to remove everything from the google drive folder that i did not want in there.
Good to hear. Always make sure you create/update a 3rd party disk image before making any significant change by way of backing up on ly your data but your whole O/S. E.g Macrium Reflect/Aomei Backupper etc..
