Want app for converting Doc files to Jpeg

    I have Windows 10

I'm looking to take Word documents and convert them to jpeg files so they can be viewed on a TV screen (for a TV that can only read and display Jpeg files).

Before you tell me about online services, I have already been using 2 of them. They are DOC to JPG Converter - FreeConvert.com and Convertio — File Converter
The problem with these is that they always mix up the order of the pages. It happens every time. The Word docs contain emails between me and someone else, and it's annoying when the pages are all out of order. So I'd like to find an app I can download and use on my computer. The 2 links above are both online services. Since they both mix up the order of the files, I'd like to try something that is not an online service if possible.

One option that I use - there are undoubtedly other ways, and probably better ones.

    Save As a PDF file.
Open PDF file in a PDF viewer (I use PDF-XChange Viewer)
Then File / Export / Export to image (sequence for my PDF Viewer)

That creates a sequence of .JPG files <filename>_01 (incremented for each page of the PDF file)

As I say, it works for me.

Take a screenshot of each page & display them on your TV.
Take screenshot [Option 1 - WinKey-PrntScrn] - TenForumsTutorials - This automatically saves the pictures as files and it numbers the files so you have less work to do.
Change or Restore Default Location of Screenshots Folder - TenForumsTutorials
Reset Screenshot Index Counter - TenForumsTutorials - I set mine to 1000 so that there will 4 digits for ages so that there is no chance of another OS [such as a TV] displaying them in a strange sequence [such as 1, 100, 2, 3, 33, 4].

Sorry - I have just realised that what I wrote does not suit your requirements. The WinKey-PrntScrn screenshot facility does not save as jpg but as png.

PNG is a better format and should be used when you are able to.

    1. Set your display to the highest resolution.
    2. Open your document files and have it fill the screen, and zoom but let it get big enough
    3. Use the printscreen button fn + printscrn or whichever combo to take a picture of the screen.
    4. Open Irfanview. Ctrl + P or go to paste and now you have a picture of your screen.
    5. cut with the selection like tool, the areas of the document. Ctrl + P to paste ( after you have cleared the area ).
    6. Then save.
    7. Repeat as much as you can.

    .......................................................................................
    Terms to think about.

Rastar images are literally bitmap images that are not vector.
Jpeg = rastar format that has the lowest amount of colors and could be harsh on eyes and is compressed.
DOC = preparatory word format using vector graphics and features found in various text editors.
PDF = printable format that is literally the printer data. Some companies like Adobe have made PDF intractable like flash-flip-books, and HTML5 flip books ( flash is better ). Some PDF formats have filler sections ( to sign a document with an electrical pen or via typing, and have room for Rastar images.

    ............................

Document files are vector files that evolved from .PCX format

Jpeg, Png, bitmap, GIF are all rastar files made out of pixels, with resolutions, megapixels, L + W + H

I wondered what PDFCreator could do, so looked at its 'printer properties' when printing - nothing helpful. But then I saw a reference on the web to its printing to jpg, so rummaged around in c:\program files to find the program folder, and ran the PDFCreator.exe program - this offered a choice of output formats under Profiles>Convert, and there was 'JPEG' (or just select the JPEG profile). So I selected that, opened a Word doc and printed the first 3 pages - and found these in the output folder:
Want app for converting Doc files to Jpeg-jpg-print.png

So it automatically indexed the image names - hey presto! hth, Martin

Rats! Callender got there with an alternative as I was typing

Update: Silly me - you can select the profile after you have committed to printing with PDFCreator. Never paid attention to that.

I just did the first link and downloaded it. It seemed to be the simplest of all the advice I've gotten here so far, but thank you to everyone who chimed in! I haven't tried this yet, but will give it a try today and let you know how it works out.

EDIT: Ok, I tried it and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the pages were in correct order! One negative is the "watermark" in three spots on each page because it's an "unregistered" version of the app. It seems they want people to get the "Pro" version to get rid of that. But since these are just emails I'm showing someone one time, it's not a big deal.
