help removing a one touch app or program

i was helping my sister set up her new to her win11 pc and the brother in law complained that he had to rest his pin like every couple of week. so before i got into that i tried to get his account on her pc in chrome and his pc and her pc with his chrome account just were not the same and sync was turn on inside my sisters pc but he could not get sync to turn on.

so now the issue along the top of the screen he has some type of what looks like the task bar and it has a bunch of icon the do nothing and a search bar that does nothing and i can't get rid of it. i found 6 or 8 instances of the one touch in start up so i disabled them and then i found that program and ran uninstall and it only partially uninstalled. that area on the top of the screen.

also he could not turn sync on he could not log onto chrome it did not take his password but on my sister pc it did. i tried to find out how to uninstall onetouch and every site that gave instruction did not remove this one.

also so i went to reset and it just will not reset. i tried 5 times to get reset to go. i tried reset from the cloud the hard drive and it gets done and nothing changed.

i told him to bring it over to me so i can take out the drive and put it on my pc on the usb and format the drive. but i wonder if that will work.

so does anyone know what might be going on? i'm leaning on a virus. he told me he downloaded win11 and installed that from the internet and i wonder if that may have had a virus on it. he tried to tell me win11 came up on the screen and asked to be installed, but it will not even do updates it just reboots.

    thanks

Login to the OneTouch web site and remove the devices under that Username on that web page, and then Uninstall the app. If you still have a problem, post in their forum for better results.

he told me he downloaded win11 and installed that from the internet
Get the details and check against how it should be done.

don't toss me under the bus here. i'm just the messenger i know how to do most of this but i just could not get rid of that onetouch program i think it might be a virus of sorts. and window could not find it. i tried to find windows malware app but his pc is so slow you can smoke while if looks for files in the downloads. i tried a restore it self canceled then a complete reset it self canceled that was saving his data so then i tried just plain reset losing everything and it self canceled again. that is why i'm leaning on some virus. they both visit dum sites.

the only way i install win11 it from the pc itself, if the pc does not come up with a notice that win11 can be installed then it is not win11 ready. i know how to get win11 on any pc i have the iso drive but i will not install that on others pc just because it does not get all the security update i tested it last year for a year against a pc the windows told me was ready and ther was a huge difference in updates.

i'm going to have him bring the tower to me and i will see if i can either get rid of that app or just take the drive out and format it outside or it;s own OS and then reinstall win10 and then run tests to see if that pc is win11 ready, my money is no it is not.

what i should do is lock both them out of adding anything to there pcs but then they will have me over there all the time wanting some app or program to install. anyway thanks

I'm not... point is, if Win 11 was not downloaded from a valid source, then anything could be in play and the whole installation compromised.

That's the first thing to check, I suggest.

ok that is what i told him. i think because he got win11 from an invalid source he got some issues on that pc. and because that pc will not reset there is something going on. so that is why i want to take the drive out and connect it via usb to my pc and then run a hard drive utility on it and most likely just reformat it and go from there with reinstalling win10 and tell him if it fails to tell him win11 is ready to leave it alone. and if he can't then next time he can pay some pc guy big bucks to fix it. he will then learn. thanks

ok update. i got that pc from my brother in law and after i removed that onetouch it was still embedded. any way i put his drive on my pc via the usb and ran my defender on it and it did come back clean but all the onetouch references were gone. anyway i copied his photos and downloads and a few doc's and then formatted the drive in amoie and on my pc while looking at the drive. then i put it back and ran win10 iso and formatted it there and installed win10 and it seems to be good now. and it is win11 ready. the pc health check confirmed it. thanks for all the help on this one. by the way he has a garman and uses the pc to get maps and all those one touch were in that folder. i told him to toss the garmin as his phone will do better but he is stubborn and we all know this will happen again.

anyway it is fast again and now clean with all of his data and no background junk. i will put adp and u block origin on it as soon as i can get his chrome setup with his account. thanks again for the help
