I uninstalled it through control panel but the installer remains in the program list and does not show up in control panel when I try to rid myself of it.
I'd say make sure that these are deleted if they still exist.

    C:\Users\All users\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu\Programs\Visual studio installer.lnk
    C:\Users\All users\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu\Programs\Visual studio 2022.lnk
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Visual Studio 2022

As for using "Everything" to delete all entries found for "Visual Studio" then it's probably okay if you can be sure that they relate only to the program and not to Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes .

If you need to reinstall Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes for any reason if something stops working after cleanup:

Just an FYI. No uninstallers get all program leftovers. If your aim is to remove the program and startup entries then most third party uninstallers should work.

    Uninstaller leftover comparison:

Uninstalr - Batch Uninstall Software In Windows

Don't rush to install that software because if settings and filters are not inspected and configured you could be in for a nasty surprise like an unexpected reboot after running the program.

I always do a manual file and registry search anyway. I do have a couple of registry scanners including one that "digs deeper" but it's not recommended for the avaerage user.
