DaVinci Resolve - sophisticated but solid and one of the best profi software, the free version offers more than enough. I use it already many years, no complains at all.

I thought my video maker quest was answered, but I find DaVinci Resolve too complex. In CapCut, I was able to upload my file with pictures and drag and drop, but cant find where to set time for each frame.

I cut back this rambling post...

Update: Amazingly, I just now received a working answer re Win Movie Maker watermark/blur. They told me to set quality on high and to max the bit rate. It worked. Funny thing though, the first video that completed without watermark/blur, did so after I paid to register. I don't think I even looked at settings and went with defaults that time.

Hope this is helpful to someone, and I would still like to know if anyone is familiar with Win Movie Maker. After bumping around on it and eventually getting answers for this and that, not always very thorough...like I said, I like its options better than other simple programs.

    Original post:
If anyone is still looking, I'd like to inquire if you have heard of this video maker software: Win Movie Maker at
Win Movie Maker 2024 Free Download - Best Windows Movie Maker Software 2024

There are no customer reviews anywhere. Questions are answered on there help page every 24-48 hours, one at a time.

My problem is that after I paid $49.99 and got register/activate code, I was able to make one video without watermarks. No more could be made without watermarks. They said a new code was required because of update. They supplied one but it didn't work. I've been going back and forth with them with still no solution. So disappointed. . And I really like the software, so don't get why they wouldn't promote and be more helpful. I give up, but too much bother to request a refund.

I ended up revisiting CapCut. So thanks to Sumari for that recommendation. Got a simple working video, but without frame transition or background color change.

I am just staring at stuff I see in my #$@$# tool section...

Movie Maker still works on Windows 10. However when updating the system, it will often be removed ( as with Daemon ).
Easy Movie Maker is another one.......

OBS studio is a screen recorder capture next to Cmatasia but is free and cross platform ( Linux, OSX, Windows ). You can use many
outside video sources and even broadcast. I assume there are video-editing tools and plugins.

Camtasia is a commercial ( was free?? ) a recorder but has video editing properties. Have Authoring properties as well. Newer version sucks in my opinion since it requires Microsoft Edge that is newer. AKA the Chrome Edge. However still popular.

The most simplest is literally "Adobe Premiere" ( Made by the same person who moved on Final Cut ). That being said Adobe has dropped support for many of it's previous applications/programs and thus you can literally download for free, but activating might be a problem. If you want something that is simple to use, where you can just trim, copy, paste, remove audio, add, then it will be Premiere.

HOWEVER..... You will need to convert using something like "Handbrake" ( File size ) because the output in premiere might be very big.

Adobe Media Encoder ( depends on which year ), can convert a raw file to widely used formats. Originally used for Flash & Video Endcoding ( .FLV ). However it is limited in reading many file types.

    Flash 8 Video Encoder
    Adobe Media Encoder CS4, CS6, 2017, 20XX,----> etc/ditto.....

"Adobe After Effects" is used for adding special-effects ( 3d for example ) and other stuff ). You can edit with this but is annoying on a slow machine.

Vegas Pro ( note the 32-bit is the Vista version ) which is no longer owned by SONY any more. Previous Vegas will not work on later systems, so be aware. Vegas is extreme editing tool but is very complicated. However with my SONY related video ( from the camera ) it actually loaded with no issues on low-end hardware ( in the past ). Again newer Vegas Pro is not SONY and has changed dramatically.

Corel Video Studio ( Same company that made Corel draw which is popular in South America Region ).

Cheetah Video Converter is another tool to checkout. That being said ...
GordianKnot ( one of the longest freeware editing tools usually part of backup video software back in the DVD days ).
    Fusion ??? Not too sure??
Memories on TV is an editing tool that could be used for animation.
    Mkv to Mp4 converter???
    Mocha Pro.
    Wondershare UniConverter

QuickTime player - is suppose to have an editor built into it. Not to sure if you have to pay or not. I usually stray away from Quicktime but many people say you can convert.

VLC - Can convert and do some editing but in command-line mode only. So you need to know the commands and what to do with the video. You can also stream and broadcast ( like Winamp ) with this tool. Like your webcam.

    Open Toonz is another editor

    Really simple:

ToolRocket VidClipper - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download

That's the free version. Later versions are trial only and must be upgraded to PRO.

Thanks for all the potential future options.

Interestingly, Win Movie Maker is not affiliated with Windows. Download page is deceptive that way. Looks similar to previous Window's download page. But, again, after much "pain and suffering", it's working out for me.

This one is through Microsoft that pops up when I search Windows Movie Maker:
    https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9m...hl=en-US&gl=US
It has bad reviews, however. Reason I didn't download.

When I say "Windows Movie Maker" I meant the one for Windows XP or Vista Windows Movie Maker?

    I have version 6.0.6002.18005

Not the DLC from the Store. I never use the Microsoft Store for anything. If I do then it is out of pure curiosity.

You could download this off a website or maybe if you have an old windows install around. It might be there.

    ...........................

Again Adobe has dropped support for many of their software and is up for grabs.

    ...........................

I would look into OBS studio if you want free software for editing, or even Handbrake
