Windows Store and Default apps not working

    Hello,
One of my windows 10 pro 22h2 (19045.4046) is not opening windows app store and many default apps like calculator, image view/picture app etc that come preinstalled with Windows.

Store, calcultor apps just wont open and there is no error/crash message displayed on the screen.just nothing happens .
I login to this pc using my ms hotmail account. There is no issue with the account and login.

I tried wsreset.exe but it ended with error...purgecache-file syatem error.
Calculator app or store app were tried resetting from settings / apps...but no success.

Tried dism options and sfc scannow. Nothing malicious found.Sfc came up with no integrity violation detected.

1.How can these apps be repaired ?
2.If these windows apps have problems, then why sfc scannkow or dism options won't detect any problem? when they actually should...

You can use attached batch script to re-register all or individual apps.

So these errors/problems have nothing to do with sfc/scannow or dism related repairs ?

If no file system corruption then it has nothing to do with it.

Those predate the Store and probably have nothing to do with Store apps.

Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10

    History: (rarely given by posters)

    - when did this start happening?
    - what happened just before that?

Do you have a recent 3rd party disk image? The routine and regular use of disk imaging (free or paid prog + image files to external storage) is endlessly recommended so you can recover from a wide range of problems - even disk failure or potentially PC theft..

I am not sure what happend just before that. But as was looking through some older restore points,I found nothing specific/special changes made to the pc. Just suddenly stopped working I guess. Sorry fo not much help here.

No Backup Image of this PC. It is used by my young son(10yr) for just his school assignments like paint brush and few video playing.

    I suggest:
    a. Do basics just as a matter of course:
Check the disk(s) - Crystal diskinfo (free)
    b. If ok run
    chkdsk c: /scan
    from an admin command prompt

If both ok, proceed to an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data (Tutorial available in the Tutorials section) - and I've posted 4 line quick start instructions scores of times.

Unfortunately the screenshots (red text) are unreadable.

Ah, you'll not know what happened to it... and anything could have.. and that's the very scenario where you really need a securely stored disk image so restoration is relatively routine and doesn't take too much of your time.

(But bear in mind restoring and image means all changes on that partition- including personal files- since the image was created- are lost, so securing or recovering data before restoration is key).

One error is can not find path C:\appmanifest.xml because it does not exist.

and other error for few apps.. is cannot install app because higher version is already installed.

chkdsk c: /scan was all good. completed the test in 48 sec with no erros.

This was the error when i tried installing the individual app Calculator

Add-AppxPackage : Cannot find path 'C:\AppxManifest.xml' because it does not exist.
    At line:1 char:94
    + ... fest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manife ...

Thanks. That is a well-known error message but I've not come across it for a long time.

chkdsk c: /scan was all good. completed the test in 48 sec with no erros.
I assume you also did the whole disk check as well. They are not equivalent at all.

    Considering the error message:
First, ensure that you are using the command exactly as shown in the tutorial, following instructions at the head of the section.

    If so, simply search for
Cannot find path 'C:\AppxManifest.xml' because it does not exist
    and you will find e.g.

Cannot find path C:\AppxManifest.xml because it does not exist

    etc

Now the question then would be 'what caused the problem in the first case?'

You still have the option of an in-place upgrade repair.

Finally after trying out many options,I made rapair upgrade from windows.(keeping all apps and personal data).

My ms store and other apps started working normally, automatically. Surprisingly, don't know why but the calculator app was not repaired/or reinstalled by windows. But from ms store I was able to install it again with no problem.
