    Change file association ?

    Hello,
Forgive me if I use the wrong terminology
I have a number of stl files I have downloaded for 3D printing
The files always open with my slicer program which is ultimaker Cura, sometimes I don’t want this as I want to put it into another program first
I ask how do I change this please

Right click on an stl file, and take a screenshot, and post it please? It should have that option.

    Also, you can try:
and hopefully you can add it from there?

OR, you can use this 3rd party program, which should give you a good result in making a new default action to open with a different program:

You can add another app to the "Open with" right menu.

    1. From the "Open with" menu, select "Choose another app".
    2. Pick the other app, and select "Just once".

Now you can see both apps in the "Open with" menu, while double-clicking a file still uses the default app.

We need a screenshot of your context menu as stated above.
To capture that you will need to be able to capture your screen, e.g. with a PRtSc key or perhaps timed capture using Snip & Sketch.

It is not definitively clear whether
    - you do not ever have 'Open With' in your context menu
    or
    - you are having difficulty knowing how to use it

    Your first post says
sometimes I don’t want this as I want to put it into another program first
    - which means you are not concerned about changing the default association, but only as you choose or need, sometimes wish to open the file with a different program.

    Thanks.

Not like those, one showing the context menu menu for a .stl file.
    Like this:

    As Pepanee said...

    a. find a stl file

    b. RIGHT click on it

    c. capture a screenshot

    d. post said screenshot

I.e. do you have an Open With context menu entry, and what does it show?

    Thanks.
