Can MS Windows Media Player output be exported?

I have over a thousand albums housing over 30K MP3s in my music library. Media Player Version 11.2310.8.0 does a good job tabulating by various criteria (artist, song, genre, etc.).

Can the Media Player output be exported to a format that I can move to Excel (CSV, text, xlsx, etc.)? With an Excel Workbook I can search, sort, add criteria like location/rating and other stuff. I know that Media Player can sort by using the included drop-down list but nothing that I can export to Excel for my purposes. Inexpensive (or free) software is acceptable.

    Thanks for your help.

I dont know of any Media Player that does that sort of thing, it would be great to be able to catalogue a collection, something i've done manually in Excel.

. That's what I'm hoping to do. But first I need to get the criteria into Excel.

Maybe someone can direct me how or claim definatively that it simply can't be done.

I don't DO... artist, song, genre, etc., but Karen's Directory Printer will Print or save as a text file, all the files and folders in any location on your computer.

    For example...

Thanks to you both for your information. I've been aware of Karen's directory printer for decades. A great program and I use it frequently for other reasons. But it doesn't provide the disaggregation of information already in the file.

I was not aware of MediaInfo. I've downloaded it and played with it some. It does a good job of allowing export of various criteria already resident in the files/folders selected. But Media Player has some information like genre that apparently MP finds but is not in either of the programs responded to this query.

Thanks, though, for your responses. I apreciate them.

A quick look suggests you would need to spend some time searching for something that extracts EVERY field you might be interested in.

This says it gives direct population of an EXCEL spreadsheet:

mp3tag (free) allows selection of multiple files and exporting the tags mp3tag handles to a range of file types, including csv.

    Hello,

Using the file menu you could click, Save Now Playing list as... Then save as an M3U, put it where you want. Open that file in notepad or excel. You will need to format it and put everything you want in the Now Playing list.
