OneNote no longer allows password protection

Winver W10 22H2 19045.3803 Trying to password protect some sections.
I am getting the message "Something went wrong and we can't do what you asked. We're sorry. " Tried numerous times on 2 different versions of OneNote. Possible solutions appreciated.

I don't have a solution but would ask if OneNote is the Win10 version or the Microsoft Office version, I have both, Office version is with Office 2013.

I have both also. The one I use the most is the Office version 2016. It has always worked without issue until today. Yes I tried the W10 version, same error. TX for response.

Having no success with this file. Looking on the internet, this has been a problem with versions back since 2017. Tried possible solutions, but they did not work on mine. I did find a work around? I simply opened another file in addition to the original file and it behaves normal. ( I can PW protect the file etc). So don't know if a particular file has a max amount of data allowed or what? Some say it is a sync problem. So for now, will consider this "fixed" and hope it does not reappear.
