People app replacement, separate contact from email addresses

I hope I can get assistance on what is partially a mobile issue to some degree. I'm seeking advice on two somewhat related needs.

First thing. Does anyone know of a way to stop the cloud from importing and mixing up my phone contacts with my Gmail addresses. I have a ton of contacts, and adding the unwanted Gmail stuff makes things less manageable for every day use.

That leads to the my need for a windows contacts app. I tried to set up the People app the, but the only option for me was to import the Gmail contacts.

Do you have a favorite contact app that can import phone contacts?

You can use Outlook, outlook.com or the Outlook app to organise Outlook contacts which the People app used to do.
