Can I Use Acrobat Reader DC Without an Adobe Account?

    22H2 (OS Build 19045.3570)

I have a copy of Acrobat Pro 8.1.0 that I purchased and have used on my Win7/Pro x64 machine. I've learned to use it and it serves my needs just fine. Should it run in compatibility mode on my Win10/Pro x64 desktop?

When I download a pdf and open it in Win10, I can view it but I can't see how to save it. In fact, there does not seem to be access to Help/About to see what software is running so I don't know if it is a 'trial' version of Acrobat Reader Pro or if it is Acrobat Reader DC which is advertised as 'free.'

I certainly do not want to use Adobe software on a monthly subscription basis.

If I can't use my Acrobat Pro 8, are there any non-Adobe programs that work?

You should be able to use this version as a stand-alone installtion without an account

One of the problems I come across regularly is users who blindly respond to registration/activation/etc requests from software - during and post installation - just because the software asks for it. And in most cases it's simply for phoning-home, marketing, tracking, etc purposes and has no relation to the program.

With my old Adobe version, my (re)installation process is as follows
    - disconnect the internet
    - disable antivirus software
    - install, with absolutely no responses to any requests during the process
    - do not re-boot even if requested
    - access settings and turn off any "phone-home" type connections (updates, registration, activation)
    - firewall block (inwards, outwards) any attempts to contact the installation
    - services.msc > stop and disable all Adobe entries

EDIT : I use RevoUninstaller and/or Geek Uninstaller to remove any previous versions of Adobe already installed, especially Reader
