    Do I need all of these Microsoft Visual CC++ files?

    I may well have downloaded these many years ago, perhaps in a misguided attempt to learn a modern programming langage. I don't remember. But C: drive space is getting scarce so I'm wondering if can I delete some or all of them without adverse consequences?

    Usually these C++ redistributable files are installed along with software that needs them. It is the same with .NET versions. You can delete them, but you will likely find that some of your installed programs won't work anymore if you delete ones that are needed, and really, there is no good way to tell before hand.

    There are C++ all in one libraries that people have made which contain all of the necessary C++ files in one place and it's only one download if I am not mistaken. You could try one of those. See the Apps and Software section of this forum for more details.

    But as for deleting these files... do so at your own peril.

    RE: Do I need all of these Microsoft Visual CC++ files?

    This question has been asked so many times. Just leave them alone. Various versions will have been installed along with the programs that need them.

    Are all these ms vis c++ necessary

    If you're looking to free up space look elsewhere.

    @Terrypin

    All of them together are like 120MB. As @Callender said... look elsewhere if you want to free up some space.

    Don't use all of these. Just pick the ones that you find useful.

    There is one program that I have used for years that sometimes has problems installing update's to unless I remove 2015 c++ redistributable.

    It always ends up reinstalling without my knowledge or asking me to reinstall it

    Thanks. I’ve got a breathing space now after yesterdays housekeeping, but moving most of the Microsoft built-in apps will be my next step.
