Why is windows reminder popping up earlier than the time I tell it to?

I'm trying to use windows 10 reminder app built into the calendar. But, when I create a test reminder and create a time for it to remind me. And save that, it shows it saved with the correct time. However the reminder ends up popping up on the screen early. The first time like 5 minutes early. The second time 15 minutes early. Anybody know why it doesn't pop up at the time I tell it too?

I am new to using this reminder app, so I could be doing something wrong. But it looks pretty simple to use to me - I don't know how I could be messing it up.

Use a different reminder app or even use Outlook.

Isn't outlook an email program. I don't use outlook for email.

Is there not a way to fix this one?

Outlook is more than just a email program, you manage contacts, calendar information in it. You should probably start using it if the Windows apps are failing.

I don't really need any those other tools. I haven't noticed any windows apps failing. I don't know that it's failing. There could be a reason why it isn't showing at the right time.

The reason would be that the app trigger is early in task manager or in its temp file.

You probably aren't. I wouldn't be relying too much on Windows add-on freebies, you get what you pay for. Not uncommon for Microsoft built-in "apps" not to perform up to expectations, that's why there's such a wide selection of 3rd party programs that perform similar functions (more than often, more reliably)

In respect of Outlook. even though you don't want/use everything it contains, very few software comes just for a single purpose. Most are enhanced with extras which do not have to necessarily be used.

The default is 15 mins before the start. Sadly you have to unclick 'All day' which I find annoying!

You can change the advance notice period to longer or zero which you can do with the dropdown by Remind me.

That solved my problem. It was set to 15 mins before the start. I didn't see that. Once I changed it to 0, it seems to be working at the right time now. Thank you.
