Matissa (photo editing software) still available for free download?
HI,
Following HD failure am trying to get Matissa back without success. Have tried web search but nothing seems to provide the download. Help.

Hi, you didn't say, but this appears to have been a Store app (rather than an exe/dll program you could download from somewhere).
As such, I suggest you're out of luck - it doesn't seem available now.
Considering how you might protect yourself against drive failure:
a. Monitor your drives so early signs of failure are reported against thresholds (e.g. Crystal Diskinfo)
b. Use 3rd party disk imaging regularly and routinely- so when something goes wrong e.g. fire/theft/flood/failure... - you can restore your familiar working environment- potentially even to a new PC
If you had done that, you could still have had that app.

Matissa app was removed from the Windows Store. While it can be downloaded from Microsoft Store - Generation Project (v1.2.3) [by @rgadguard & mkuba50], the only available version appears broken. Even after you install the pre-requisite libraries, Matissa appears to constantly pop-up an error message complaining it can't download filters.
I doubt anyone get it working from scratch, since their servers are gone.

On another note you could just sideload Windows 11 Photo app on Windows 10. I tried it and it worked but I have no need of it so I uninstalled it.
Windows 11 Photos app now supports Windows 10
