    Program/App Question

I recently installed a free app, liked it and purchased a license key for the 'pro' version. After a few days of noodling around with it decided it was not for me and requested a refund. However, as I wait for the refund to clear I continue to use it. The merchant contacted me and informed me I was still using it after the refund was issued and requested I uninstall it. I replied that until the refund clears I should be able to continue use and would remove it then.

I had expected the merchant to simply disable/deactivate the key so the program would stop functioning in 'pro' mode. I'm not up on how this stuff works so I was surprised at getting the request.

    -thoughts?

I feel ethically they have the right to request that because you revoked your license when you asked for the refund as soon as they processed your refund on their end then that would be the line in the sand. They are selling the service then that means you need to pay to use it.

I guess because it would take a while for the bank to process it but on the actual companies end of the logistics you are no longer a premium customer.

I think the situation will be because that you have essentially activated the software this could mean indefinite use of that program if it is only a basic software and depending on how it works. They should be able to push something to it that deactivates it anyway so i don't understand here this would be the only reason they would ask you to uninstall it i think.

Most companies will know that you will run out of premium after time or when the next update to the software goes out. I have never experienced this situation before tbh. But its sounds strange because if they can tell that you are still using the software then they should be able to deactivate it on the same side of that coin lol.

I would certainly uninstall any program/app for which I had requested a refund. It doesn’t seem right to continue using it when I’m unhappy with a program.

    thx for the helpful replies.

Perhaps it's a matter of individual perspective. I consider it my possession until the refund has cleared. One can never know when any financial transactions are going to go south, especially so when dealing with the internet. The site had no refund policy so I had to make contact with developer, inform them of flaws and improvements and request the refund. In the same communication I informed them once/if the issues were resolved I would re-purchase. In truth, after purchase I registered to their support forum and discovered that my main issue was posted over 10 years ago! They replied only that the refund was being issued and did not touch at all on the concerns I expressed. With every intention of uninstalling the app, I only continued use to further evaluate it and hope there could be good enough performance overall to justify re-purchase.
