Thanks to all for all the effort. Sorry I haven't replied. I've experienced many of the problems you all mentioned, but managed to fix all of them, including the 'Unsupported 16 bit application' message. The app is still running on my W10 laptop and a newer W11 laptop, on which I installed it with no problems. The Windows updates are the same on my W10 laptop and the desktop. On the desktop, when I sign on as a different user, same problem. So, I don't think its profile related. Here is event log info:
