    Revouninstaller - safe?

Recently i've been looking for software to cleanup left-over registry entrys, basically a registry cleaner.
The revouninstaller looks quiet interesting, can anyone here share their experience with the program?
If there are "better" tools for registry cleaning out there, which ones would that be?

REVO is a great program. I've used the free version for years, with no problems.
It can un-install anything, and it then offers to "scan for leftovers" which I always do.

    I've never had a problem on Win 7, 10 or 11. But...

I don't really ever install truly weird or dangerous things, and I use backup software as well.

Hi, programs like Revo Uninstaller uninstall a selected program. I routinely use Geek Uninstaller when uninstalling programs.

Why are these useful? Because the uninstall sequence the author creates may not remove every element of the program.

They are not general registry cleaners. Don't get confused betwen arbitrary registry cleaning, and cleanly uninstalling programs. The latter is fine but I do not recommend attempting randomly cleaning the registry- you can't be certain of the outcome.

Uninstallers like Revo, Geek, Soft Organiser, Wise Uninstaller... may be considered 'safe' - but like any spanner or screwdriver, should be used appropriately.

They run the standard uninstall sequence, then offer to perform an additional scan. The results of that are typically offered for your approval.

Some of them also offer a Forced or Custom uninstall where you can browse to e.g. a folder or exe containing some element of a program- e.g. one which has been incompletely uninstalled - to be used with care.

Note: you are, apparently, using Win 7...

Revo is very good. It has never given me a problem and removes much rubbish not removed by the standard uninstaller even if I don't monitor the installation.

@Identity, Revo is not a registry cleaner ! @dalchina post above is spot on, do not attempt to clean the registry unless you are trained or have done it many times. if you remove the wrong files or programs it could break your system. Registry Cleaners have been known to cause all sorts of problems ! I can clean your system with some programs we use in Malware cleaning, your choice ??

So, now I am confused. I've used Revo Uninstaller free using: create restore point, advanced & delete all registry - for years. Always clean the registry for each uninstall. Now you are saying that the registry cleaning in not necessary or may be dangerous?
And why is this dangerous if there is a restore point? If there was a problem, wouldn't the restore point correct that?

The difference is very very simple.

    a. Uninstaller programs deal exclusively with the registry keys, files and folders related to the program being uninstalled AND NO OTHERS.

    b. Registry Cleaners scan the whole registry for broken or leftover registry keys from anything and everything.

Do you now see the difference between the two classes of programs?

Great points @dalchina, may i also say that our Malware teachers made a comment that the simple answer to that question is that System Restore does delete and replace some files, but not your personal ones.
