    Testdisk issue.

Not sure what response (if any) I'll get here. But before I go any further, this problem concerns those users who are Linux users as well as Windows users and have used Testdisk successfully. to recover deleted files.

First of all, I've used Testdisk successfully to recover deleted files from an NTFS partition in Windows. The issue I have is when I try to do the same from ext4 partitions in Linux. Furthermore there are articles on the web which contradict each other when explaining how to do this.

In Linux, I've tried testing this out by deleting a few files from a folder, then followed this article, which seems to be the clearest in explaining this. However towards the bottom of the article when given the option of listing files within Testdisk, only those that already exist (ie a current listing of my user folder) are shown. No deleted files (as shown by website's example shown in red in image below) are ever seen. Nothing shows up as deleted, not even when I deliberately delete files from a folder to try this out.

I'm stumped. And if any Linux users have been successful in retrieving deleted files, I'd be really grateful.

I have not used testdisk before but extundelete is also a good option. So i am unsure with testdisk but the wiki says to use undelete
TestDisk: undelete file for ext2 - CGSecurity

Here is some more alternative useful information just tailor it towards deb or hat base which ever you require.
