Opened Chrome this morning and clicked on the Google Apps icon in the toolbar. It used to show the apps in customized order now. This morning they all display in alpha order. Hate that. I want the apps i use most often at the top or in any spot I want so they're easy to find.

Didn't see how to switch back to custom order. Anyone else find a solution?

I had a reply in Google Help Forum. Not surprised to learn it's a UI change. But being unable custom arrange app icon placement is NOT user friendly. You can also give Google feedback to allow for customizing icon placement.

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More (with the 3 vertical dot.
  3. Click Help Report an issue.
  4. Add details, including steps to help us recreate the issue you're experiencing.
  5. Choose if you want to include more information in your report, like a web address, your email address, or a screenshot.
  6. To submit the report, click Send.
  7. Also file a crbug report.
