    That works for me.

Delete all references to 'Microsoft Edge' for .pdf
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.pdf\OpenWithProgIds\MSEdgePDF

However I reckon it will likely return after an update.

It looks like that default programs editor is just a wizard that makes changes to the OpenWith List Key. This is how I have it configured and the edge context options still exist. Maybe I need to reinstall edge just so that I can try importing those keys and deleting them again, and then uninstall it. So stupid. Why does Microsoft insist on manifesting this bloatware onto the general population like this?

And thank you for your reply.

Just ignore Edge. Use MSEdgeRedirect. Then you won't be so frustrated and annoyed.

I assume that just redirects all shortcuts and links in explorer and the start menu to your browser of choosing? That's actually a good idea than trying to rip out a pesky tick that has been embedded in like this.

Have you looked at the posts #26, #27 of the thread that I suggested?

No it's more clever than that. You can read about it.

E.g. News and Interest links are redirected when using it. It operates at a deeper level as I indicated.

How would I reinstall edge so that I can try starting fresh with the previously mentioned tweaks? I believe I uninstalled edge before it updated to chrominum using powershell commands. I am running windows version 22H2.

Have you tried searching the huge searchable Tutorials section?

If unfamiliar, do have a look. I found this for you:
Reinstall and Re-register Microsoft Edge in Windows 10

I haven't done that because I assumed nobody would WANT to reinstall edge. Mainly because its not something that Microsoft even allows you to officially do. But also because its absolute dog**** bloatware that behaves much more like a PUP than it does a first party product.

And thank you for your reply.

If unhappy with MS & Windows, you could try Linux.
Otherwise you might try one of the 'lite' versions of Windows that are around (I've only seen references to these).
